XTENT INSTALLED AT GACETA DE LOS NEGOCIOS
The financial daily, La Gaceta de los Negocios, has successfully installed the first XTENT in Spain. During the entire month of September, the different sections of the daily newspaper were migrated from the old system to XTENT in a record-breaking time. In addition, the newspaper was redesigned with new books, which was unveiled on October 27th, to take full advantages of the important enhancements offered by XTENT.
Julen Echeberría, Production and Systems Director, makes the following comments on the new system: As occurs when launching any new products, there were the normal delays that occur in any implementation; nonetheless, the new system has enabled us to successfully face the challenges of launching our white-salmon, increasing pagination (with the added complexity of a new two book production) and starting multiprinting without requiring additional journalists in order to meet deadlines. In addition, our having chosen a technological platform like XTENT has allowed us to contemplate new options for launching cross-media products in the immediate future.
For Hernando Calleja, assistant director of La Gaceta de los Negocios: easy to use system, enhanced visual control of pages being closed, standardised content search (text or graphic) of all available information (whether from a file or agency) and increased ease in adjusting news text have all led to improved newsroom work.
