BALEARIC ISLANDS PARLAMENT CHOOSES SEINET’S XTENT CONTENT MANAGER
Seinet’s XTENT content manager is to be the cornerstone of the new Systems Plan for the Balearic Islands Parliament. XTENT content manager will support the other information systems, including the library of recordings, the general register of incoming and outgoing documents, preparation and presentation of parliamentary initiatives, the e-mesa (on-line round table forum), and also the multiportal Web site.
XTENT content manager is a latest generation multimedia content manager. It has been chosen for its open and modular engineering; developed in Java J2EE, it works with XML protocol over HTTP. This technology gives it the advantage of great flexibility in integrating with third-party systems, making it a powerful content manager for any information system, however complex.
The aim is to structure the Parliament’s publications in a completely novel way, by creating minimal content units (in PDF, XML, or HTML format), which will be more efficient, because they may be re-used. Documents are to be generated in rich formats, including links or hyperlinks to related information (for example, the parliamentary initiative it forms part of, information on a member of parliament taking part in the debate, a video of their speech, etc.) These minimal units will also be provided by existing information systems (video library, library of recordings, documents register, etc.)
One of the crucial new projects is the multiportal Web, in which the information displayed, will be tailored to the target user visiting the web site. XTENT content manager will supply the content for this multiportal web, providing optimised and automated content update. This will also ensure that the information is correctly structured, for speedy and efficient information search and re-use.
XTENT content manager will be at the heart of the new projects making up the new Information Systems for the Balearic Islands Parliament.
