SEINET moves into Epub (Ipad, Ebooks)
SEINET has launched an ePublisher module for its XTENT so that editorial content can now be shared seamlessly across a new generation of devices such as the Apple iPad or the Sony Reader PRS-505, as well as traditional print media and associated websites. Publishers can reuse their content in an eBook format simply by choosing a design from the intuitive template manager without the need for any other tools or training.
This ease of use is because all the content used in the XTENT is held in XML format in a content management database. As such, it can be quickly repurposed from one media to another. Publishers can easily alter the look and feel of any edition simply by changing the underlying template. XTENT is a powerful, next generation editorial system. It makes use of visual tools, from the at-a-glance page planner to the page layout based on the proven Adobe InDesign. Everything is template-based so there’s no need to learn any additional coding or theory, so that it is easy for a single team to create cross-media publications without having to hire in additional expertise.
The system is built on established standards like XML and Java. ePublisher uses the ePub standard and is compatible with all the common e-readers, including the recently announced Apple iPad, as well as the Sony Reader PRS-505, the Hanvon N526, the Barnes & Noble Nook, the IRiver Story, IRex Digital Reader 1000, Onyx Boox, Plastic Logic Que and Hanlin eReader. It’s also suitable for programs such as Aldiko for Android, Freda for Windows Mobile and Stanza for iPhone and iPod touch.
SEINET and XTENT
XTENT is sold on a distributor channel base around the world and forms the basis of a number of established editorial management systems. SEINET itself is based in Spain and has been developing open cross media content management tools since 2001.
